The City of Summerville says leaf pickup is underway, with City Utilities Street Department crews working through neighborhoods to keep streets tidy and safe during the fall and winter season.

City officials are asking residents to help the process go smoothly by raking leaves to the curb in loose piles and keeping them free of debris such as sticks, rocks, and trash. The city says those items can damage vacuum equipment and slow down operations for everyone.

The city also shared several important reminders:

  • Rake leaves only—keep piles clean and free of debris.

  • Do not pile leaves over storm drains, which can lead to street flooding during rain.

  • Watch for schedule updates, since routes and timing are weather-dependent and may change.

  • Use caution around crews and slow-moving trucks, and watch for hand signals from workers.

The City of Summerville says it appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as crews work through the community, adding that teamwork helps keep Summerville looking its best year-round.
