Students interested in playing Indians Middle School soccer have a chance to get a head start on the season with upcoming soccer conditioning sessions for grades 5–8.

Organizers say students must have an updated physical on file to participate. If a student is already playing a school sport, the school may be able to verify the physical already on record. Families can turn in physical forms through the student’s home school office, bring them to conditioning/tryouts, or scan and email them.

Conditioning will be held at the gym at Leroy Massey Elementary School, located at 403 Dot Johnson Drive. Sessions are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with the first dates listed as 1/12, 1/14, 1/16, 1/19, 1/21, and 1/23. Officials note that all conditioning is optional, but encouraged for students planning to try out.

On school days, students may ride the activity bus to LMES if they provide a transportation note stating they will ride the bus on conditioning days. A special note for families: 5th grade students who attend LMES will meet in Mrs. Smith’s classroom on conditioning days and can change at the start of dismissal.

Students should come dressed in athletic clothing and tennis shoes. Organizers stress: no cleats, no shin guards, and no soccer balls are needed for conditioning. A water bottle is also recommended, and changing clothes before leaving school is encouraged when possible.

Tryouts are expected to begin the week of 1/26, with additional information to be announced.
