Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia Department of Public Safety released new enforcement and crash numbers Monday for the Christmas Holiday Travel Period, showing hundreds of citations and multiple fatal crashes statewide.
According to the Georgia DPS Activity Counts, troopers and officers reported:

DUI arrests: 274

Distracted driving cases: 489

Seatbelt citations: 657

Total crash report count: 329

Total crash fatalities (persons): 4

Total crash injuries (persons): 137
-
Crashes with a driver under the influence: 22

Crashes with commercial motor vehicle (CMV) involvement: 16
Statewide, agencies reported a Total Fatality Count of 15 for the holiday travel period.
Officials continue urging drivers across Northwest Georgia, including Chattooga County, to make safe choices behind the wheel—buckle up, put the phone down, never drive impaired, and slow down—especially during busy holiday travel windows.
