April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Chattooga County will recognize the occasion with its Annual Pinwheel Ceremony today, Tuesday, March 31. Chattooga DFCS and Chattooga Family Connection will host the ceremony at 11 a.m. at Dowdy Park as part of local efforts to raise awareness and show support for children and families.

Ahead of the event, organizers spent time Monday visiting local first responders and public safety agencies, including police departments in Trion and Summerville, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, the 911 Center, Coroner’s Office, and Fire Department, to personally thank them for the work they do to protect and support children in the community. A special thank you was also extended to the local DFCS team.

Community members are encouraged to attend today’s ceremony and, if possible, wear blue in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The annual event serves as a reminder of the importance of working together to create safe, supportive environments for every child in Chattooga County.
