The annual Spring Plant Sale at Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Rome is set for April 13 through April 16, offering a wide selection of flowers, herbs, vegetables, and more while supporting the school’s Horticulture program.
The sale will begin Monday, April 13, at 8 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Hours for Tuesday, April 14, through Thursday, April 16, will also be 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., or until plants sell out.
Nick Barton, Director of Horticulture at GNTC, says shoppers are encouraged to come early because plants often sell out before the final day.
The sale will feature a large variety of flowering annuals and perennials, along with vegetables, herbs, hanging baskets, and blooming plants. Vegetable selections will include tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, zucchini, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Flowering plants will include impatiens, dianthuses, petunias, marigolds, SunPatiens, lantana, million bells, and portulaca hanging baskets.
Prices for flowers, herbs, and vegetables will be $5 for a four-pack or $30 for a flat containing four packs. Mixed flats of flowers and vegetables will also be available for $30. Hanging baskets will cost $10 each, 6-inch pots will be $5 each, hibiscus will be $8, and butterfly bush will be $6 each.
Purchases may be made with cash or check only. Credit cards will not be accepted.
The sale will be held at the greenhouses across from GNTC’s Floyd County Campus in Rome, next to the Woodlee Building.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Horticulture program at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, while also giving students hands-on experience and a chance to showcase their work.
