A Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy announced Friday that he will run for the office of Chattooga County Magistrate Judge as a Democrat. Jeremy Reece is an agent with the Chattooga County Narcotics Unit. He will resign that post when he qualifies in May, as required by Chattooga County ordinance.
Reece told AM 1180 that he decided to run for the magistrate judge’s position because he feels like people of Chattooga County need someone to talk to, he is familiar with the issues and he would be fair. Reece has almost 12 years law enforcement experience, all in Chattooga County. He began his law enforcement career at the Chattooga County jail where he worked for 2 years and was mandated at age 21 while employed by the Summerville Police Department, where he worked from 2003 to 2009.
He is 30 years old and was born and raised in Chattooga County. Reece will run against incumbant Tracy Maddux. Maddux, a Democrat, has been in office since 1997. He faced 6 opponents that year and none since.
