Chattooga County residents have an opportunity to weigh in on transportation projects planned for Northwest Georgia as the Georgia Department of Transportation seeks public input on its Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.

Georgia DOT District 6 is inviting residents throughout Northwest Georgia, including Chattooga County, to learn more about planned transportation projects and provide feedback about priorities that matter to their communities.

While an in-person drop-in session is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Pickens County Library, Chattooga County residents do not have to make the trip to Pickens County to participate.

Comments and feedback can be submitted online, where residents can also review additional information and maps showing projects included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, commonly known as the STIP.

The STIP outlines transportation projects planned throughout Georgia and provides residents with an opportunity to see what improvements are proposed for their region and offer input on transportation priorities.

For residents of Chattooga County and other Northwest Georgia communities who cannot attend Wednesday’s meeting, the online option provides a way to review the information and participate from home.

Georgia DOT says the public input process is designed to give communities across District 6 a voice in transportation planning and the projects that will affect the region in the years ahead.
