It may only be September, but Chattooga Family Connection is getting an early start on Christmas by asking the community to help fill stockings for local children, teenagers and families.

The organization has launched its Christmas “Stuff a Stocking” Donation Drive, collecting a variety of small gifts and everyday items that can be distributed throughout the community during the Christmas season.

Among the suggested donations are lip gloss and ChapStick, personal hygiene items, socks, hair products and brushes, toys, dolls and action figures, hats and gloves, journals, cups and water bottles, perfume and cologne, and gift cards. Organizers say those are only suggestions, and other appropriate stocking-stuffer items are also welcome.

Chattooga Family Connection says items such as ChapStick, lip gloss and socks are particularly useful because they can be distributed among a wide range of ages.

While Christmas is still several months away, organizers are beginning the collection now to give the community plenty of time to donate and to help ensure there are enough items available when the stockings are prepared.

Those who would rather make a monetary donation can also contribute to the effort.

Anyone interested in donating or learning more about the Christmas project can contact Maisha Ludy at 706-388-9849 or maisha.ludy@gmail.com.

Chattooga Family Connection says even small donations can make a big impact as the community works together to bring a little extra joy to local families this Christmas.
