If you are traveling in neighboring Cherokee County, Alabama, this evening, be aware of extra activity and possible traffic delays around Gaylesville as the community celebrates its annual homecoming parade.

Gaylesville School will hold its 9th Annual Homecoming Parade today, beginning at 5 PM Alabama/Central Time — 6 PM Georgia/Eastern Time.

Participants will line up near the school’s track and baseball field. The parade will begin on Oak Street, travel onto Main Street/Alabama Highway 68, turn at the four-way stop onto Alabama Highway 35, and then return to Oak Street before ending at the new gym.

Decorated floats will be featured, and candy will be handed out to children along the route.

Following the parade, the community is invited to the football field for a free hot dog meal. There will also be a chili cook-off, with a $50 gift card going to the winner, sponsored by Gaylesville Cheerleading. The Gaylesville FCA chapter will deliver a message before the meal.

Homecoming activities continue Friday night when the Gaylesville Trojans host the Donoho Falcons at Roy Knapp Sr. Field at Trojan Stadium.

Again, today’s parade begins at 5 PM Central Time — 6 PM Eastern Time.
