A Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy has resigned amid a GBI probe into a recent arrest he was involved in. Deputy Rick Nelson resigned Tuesday.

Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Nelson resigned Tuesday He had been with the sheriff's office for about seven years.
 
Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell could not confirm for what reasons Nelson resigned, he did say there was an internal investigation being conducted in reference to an arrest Nelson and another deputy made. Caldwell did say the arrest in question prompted the sheriff’s office to involve the GBI. Sheriff Tim Burkhalter said he called the GBI about the arrest last week.
