The City of Summerville Police Department has released its report on a crash that occurred in Downtown Summerville on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, Linda Johnson of an Orchard Hill address told officers she was sitting at the intersection of Commerce Street  at East First Avenue in her 2004 Chrysler Pacifica  waiting for the light to turn green so she could cross onto West First Avenue. She reportedly said the light turned green, she attempted to cross over Commerce Street and was hit by 2001 Chevrolet Equinox.

The driver of the Equinox, who is a juvenile, told police that she was traveling North in the right lane of Commerce Street  and started through the intersection of First Avenue with a green light.  She said she saw the Chrysler pull out into Commerce and tried to avoid a collision by moving to the left  lane but was prevented from doing so because there were vehicles in the lane beside her. She told police she had nowhere to go and the vehicles collided.  That collission caused the Equinox to overturn onto its top with the juvenile and another passenger inside.  

A witness to the accident told police that she was stopped in her vehicle in the left hand northbound land of Commerce Street while the light was red. She said the Equinox came by her in the right lane while the light was still red an entered the intersection while the Chrysler was pulling  into the intersection.

All of the women involved in the accident were wearing lap and shoulder restraints according to the report. Though all were transported to the hospital and  all have since been released.
