The Trion Board of Education in a called meeting Thursday night unanimously approved the hiring of the defensive coordinator of one of it's biggest rivals. Josh Groce is a graduate of Gordon Lee, played football for Gordon Lee and most recently was the defensive coordinator for the Trojans. This fall, Groce will be defensive coordinator and teach high school PE for Trion.

The board also approved a new fundraiser for the school — The First Annual Trion Texas Hold "Em Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament which is slated for mid December 2012 will go to purchase travel shirts for the football team and linemen/skill gloves.

In other business, the board approved Kelly Wilson as Director of Federal Programs and Larry Sentell as Elementary Art teacher, as well as the retirement of Darlene Rowe, elementary art teacher. Rowe has been employed at Trion Schools for 30 years and is responsible for the hand print tiles and murals that grace the walls of the elementary school.
