Am 1180 recently spoke to Town of Lyerly Mayor Josh Wyatt concerning the approval of a contract with the City of Summerville that addresses water purchased from Lyerly for the Mohawk Plant.

Wyatt said, the agreement with summerville is an agreement that lyerly will buy its water from summerville for Mohawk and will automatically be renewed after 4 years if not renegotiated.  It also sets the wter rates which is the same as it is now.

The contract pretty much ensures the city of Summerville that Lyerly will purchase its water for the Mohawk plant from the city of Summrville. Summerville recently invested about $296,000 to run a 12-inch water main from Summerville to the Mohawk plant  in Lyerly in case Mohawk's permit is ever curtailed or they need that flow. However, Mohawk is an indirect customer of the city of Summerville and is actually the customer of Lyerly, which buys its water from Summerville. Summerville needed assurance its investment was safe.
