Project Appleseed is coming to Chattooga County! The Chattooga County Wildlife Club has teamed with The Revolutionary War Veterans Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching every American our shared heritage and history through traditional rifle marksmanship skills. Their volunteer instructors travel across the country teaching about the difficult choices, the heroic actions, and the sacrifices that the founders of our country made on behalf of modern Americans.

Their program vividly portrays the Battles of Lexington and Concord with immediacy that is absent from school history. Listeners hear of the danger, the fear, and the heartbreak arising from the choices made on April 19th, 1775. They are reminded of the marksmanship and organization skills that lead the American colonists to defeat one of the world's most-feared and best-equipped armies. Attendees better understand the fundamental choices faced by our ancestors as they began to shape the nation we now enjoy.

On Sept. 22-23, a 2-day rifle marksmanship event will be held at the old Chattooga County landfill site on Penn Bridge Rd. RWVA instructors will be on hand for individual training on Saturday leading up to practice on the Army Qualification Test on Sunday. Women and children shoot at greatly reduced rates, and all participants are encouraged to register in advance at www.appleseedinfo.org and to learn more about the program under the "Appleseed" tab.
