Shorter University welcomed Dr. John Waters, pastor of Statesboro First Baptist Church, as guest speaker for its first chapel service of the semester. Dr. Waters has pastored FBC Statesboro since 2005 and currently serves as president of the Georgia Baptist Convention.

Dr. Waters pulled his sermon from Proverbs 3:5-6 that states: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.

When the world throws you into a whirlwind, grab hold of God will all of your heart, mind and soul, Dr. Waters told students, faculty and staff. Stretch your wings and take God at His word; He will carry you along.
