‘Lakeside Movie Under the Stars’ @ Shelter #3

Friday, September 14th 8:30PM – 10:00 PM

 

Join us for the family-friendly movie "The Lorax" under the stars. Bring a flashlight, blanket and snacks for a fun-filled event near the water. (Shelter #3) Cold drinks and snacks will be available for sale; parking and restrooms are nearby (flashlights will be needed). Park closes 15 minutes after movie ends.

‘Outdoor Adventure Day’ @ Entire Picnic Area

Saturday, September 22th 9:00AM – 3:00 PM

 

Enjoy a day on the water with the kid's fishing event and canoe instruction. On land live animal shows including several snake presentations will be offered. Children may learn more about hunter’s safety at the archery range, BB gun range and the laser shooting system. Hot dogs and cold drinks will be available.

‘Save Your Parks Day’ @ Shelter #4

Saturday, September 29th 10:00AM – 1:00 PM

 

The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park are going to take advantage of this free parking day to gather for a work event. We will be digging up the last of the park’s nandinas (an invasive, non-native plant) from around Shelter #4 and transplanting some shrubs in their place. If you love nandinas, you are encouraged help dig some up and take them home. If you hate them, come help us get rid of them. Bring your own spade and gardening gloves.

‘Taylor Ridge Jamboree’ @ Shelter #2

Saturday, October 13th 11:00AM – 6:00 PM

 

Nothing welcomes the fall leaf watching season more than Bluegrass and Barbeque in the north Georgia Mountains. Enjoy live bands Grass Backards, Delta Soul & The Mars Hill Porch Pickers along with good food at the foot of Taylor Ridge.
