When the Trion Council last Thursday opened buds for asbestos testing at its soon to be demolished Park Avenue Apartments, there was only one bid to open. That's why, the council needs to advertise bids in more than one space, according to Councilwoman Tonya Abernathy. At last week's meeting Abernathy told council members that the council should be advertising that they are seeking bids for various projects in more places than the Summerville News so they can get more than one bid on projects and possibly save money. Municipalities are required to advertise bids in the legal county organ, which is The Summerville News. However in addition to that, bids can be advertised anywhere. Abernathy says, Trion should at least be advertising bids on the Georgia Municipal Association website. Mayor Johnny Ingle told told Abernathy they could discuss it at the next council meeting.
