A small plane crashed into Weiss Lake near Cedar Bluff on Saturday.  Cherokee County, Alabama Emergency Management Agency Director Beverly Daniel confirmed that the body of the pilot, who was the only person on the plane at the time of the crash was recovered from the waters of Weiss Lake around 12:40 PM, Alabama time.

The call came into Cherokee County 911 around 10 AM that a plane had crashed into the lake near Riverside Campground in Cedar Bluff.  Daniel said that the plane was attempting to land when it clipped the main power line in the area which caused the pilot to crash into the lake.

The pilot was identified as 66 year old William Paul Shaver of Huntsville, Alabama.
