A man's erratic driving lead to his arrest on DUI charges. According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Gary Campbell observed a vehicle driving too fast for conditions in the dark and rain just before 8:30 Sunday traveling West on Mountain View Road. While following the vehicle Campbell reports the vehicle went around a curve just before the Spring Creek Road intersection with its right two wheels leaving the roadway and going onto the shoulder of the road. The driver reportedly recovered and briefly stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Mountain View Road and Georgia Highway 27 and then allegedly almost collided with a vehicle on Highway 27. The vehicle was stopped just North of the Trion waste water treatment plant. Matthew Daniel Ruff, age 60, of Trion told Campbell he had not been drinking but tested 0.063 on the breathalyzer test. He then told the officer that he had had some wine earlier in the day. Ruff was arrested and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
