Town of Trion Councilman Lanny Thomas went on record at Thursday night's Trion Council meeting as against Amendment One. Amendment one is the charter school amendment that will be on the November 6th ballot in Georgia. Thomas is the former mayor of the Town of Trion and has been an educator in the Trion City School system for many years. At Thursday's council meeting, he urged voters to educate themselves on the amendment before voting on November 6. He said he is against the measure.

A Georgia Charter Schools Amendment will appear on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Georgia as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. The measure gives the state legislature the right to create special schools.
