Early Wednesday morning Chattooga County deputies responded to a 911 call from an Ellenburg Subdivision Road residence to find one of the complainants in the doorway unloading a weapon. According to the report, someone had been trying to entering a vehicle parked at the residence just after 5 a.m. Officers reportedly found a white male, later identified as Stryder Fain Maddox staggering around about 10 yards from the carport of the home. Maddox was wearing sweat pants, tennis shoes and no shirt, and was reportedly swaying back and forth unsteady on his feet, with his speech severely slurred. According to the report, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or other unknown substance. After being told to get on the ground several times, he complied and was then put in to the back of a patrol car.  The report say that statements from the complainants indicate that Maddox entered the vehicle, a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria, asked for the keys several times, and then told the complainants he was going to take the car and drive it. According to the report, Maddox was arrested and charged with criminal attempt.
