The GHSA released the Class A playoff brackets this afternoon and as expected, Trion will travel to Irwin County next Friday.  Irwin County High School is located in Ocilla, GA which is about 30 miles from Tifton.  The trip to Irwin County will cover just over 280 miles and approximately 5 hours of travel time for the Trion faithful that plan to make the trip.

The Irwin County Indians finished the 2012 regular season with a 7-3 overall record and a 5-1 record in region 2-A.  Irwin County finished tied for first in the region with Wilcox County but Wilcox County won the region due to their 28-21 victory over Irwin County on November 2nd.  

All of Irwin County's 3 losses came to teams who all made the state playoffs and finished no worse than 3rd in their region.  Two of those three losses were to teams in AA.  Aside from Irwin County's loss to region champion Wilcox County, Irwin County lost to Fitzgerald (31-0) and East Laurens (21-13).

 Irwin County's victories came against Taylor County, Wilkinson County, Telfair County, Clinch County, Lanier County, Turner County and Charlton County.

This year will be Trion's 6th trip to the state playoffs in the last 10 years.  The Bulldogs have not won a playoff game since 2003, the year that saw the Trion Bulldogs advance to the semi-finals in the Georgia Dome against Lincoln County.
