A domestic dispute that began at a neighbor's house Saturday escalated into an aggravated assault at the home of the victim and perpetrator, according to a report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Office. The report indicates that, the couple was at a neighbor's home on Gillreath Mill Road in Menlo, when they began to argue. The husband reportedly shot a rifle into the air at this residence. When the couple went home the incident became physical. According to the woman, her husband had her on the steps, banging her head on the door, when he pulled out a knife and said he would kill her. The woman said she was able to kick her husband away from her, but he then pulled her down onto the ground and began choking her. He reportedly let her go so he could go to his car and again allegedly told her that he would kill her. The woman said she fought him for the gun he got from the car and was able to get the magazine. The man reportedly went inside and the wife, reportedly hid behind the trailer. The husband is reported to have gone outside again and shot a a rifle into the air and yelled out that he would get his shot gun. The woman reportedly was able to run down the road to a neighbor's house for help. The man reportedly went to the home where his wife was hiding and was told he could not come in. At that point, he reportedly shoved the woman who answered the door inside the house. He eventually left. A deputy went with the woman to her get belongings from the residence and the man was not found, according to the report. Warrants reportedly will be taken out for his arrest, the report stated.
