State Senator Jeff Mullis who represents Dade, Walker, Catoosa and Chattooga Counties in the Georgia State Senate may be chosen as the Senate Rule Committee Chairman, a powerful position. Some consider the position to be the third most powerful position in the state. Rumors have circulated around Atlanta for several days that Mullis could be chosen chairman.
Mullis was first elected in 2000 and is beginning his fifth term in the Georgia State Senate. The Chickamauga Republican was recognized in 2012 by Georgia Trend Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Georgians.
Mullis also is employed by the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority where he serves as Executive Director.
