A Summerville woman was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department on January 9. According to the report, Deputy Caine Railey stopped the silver Ford Taurus on Highway 48 at Shinbone Valley Road after the vehicle crossed the yellow line three times. When the vehicle was stopped the driver reportedly  threw out white paper from the passenger side window, according to the report. Also upon waling up to the vehicle Railey reported hearing a woman crying. Carol Cannon of Fall Drive Summerville, said she had paint on her hand. However, Railey told her that she was bleeding and she said she must have cut it on the door. Cannon's license turned up suspended. EMS was requested and Cannon was asked to take a sobriety test. According to the report, Cannon never said she wouldn't take the test, but didn't say she would. When she stepped out of the vehicle, Railey noticed a clear plastic bag that she had been sitting on. Cannon said it wasn't hers. The white powder field tested positive for methamphetamine. EMS found glass in the woman's hand but she refused to go to the hospital According to the report, she refused to take a blood test, uttering she would fail it. Cannon was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
