A Trion woman reported that a book of checks was stolen from her home and she realized it when she received a phone call from the husband of the woman who reportedly stole them.
The woman said she had had an overnight guest on January 19. She said she discovered her book of checks missing on January 22. The checks were from Southeastern Federal Credit Union and the checking account has since been closed, according to the report.
When she received the call from the man saying his wife had her checks, she said she told him to tear them up. However, the woman who had taken the checks had reportedly cashed one of the checks at the Family Dollar Store on Highway 114. The incident was turned over to investigators.
