Acting on a tip, the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department in conjunction with the Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force arrested three men in two separate incidents in Cloudland Thursday.
According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, acting on a tip, officers basically did a "knock and talk," where they knock on someone's door and talk to them. Officers knocked on the door of Ronald Blansitt, Gillreath Mill Road, Cloudland around midday Thursday. Blansit gave officers consent to search his home and they found methamphetamine inside the residence. Blansit was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Officers also received a tip that there was meth at a hunting cabin down the road. Another "knock and talk" was performed. This time officers found more meth, as well as firearms.
Arrested in the second incident was Jeff Craig Rakestraw, Cloudland, and Ray Charles Rakestraw, Adairsville. Both were charged with VGCSA/ Possession of Methamphetamine; Possession of a Firearm or Knife during the commission of, or in an attempt to commit a crime. Ray was additionally charged with possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
They were all lodged in the Chattooga County Jail.
