According to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department report, 37-year-old Danny R. Ogles, listing a Melba Dr., Trion address, reported to the sheriff's office that a home he was living in was burglarized Sunday. Ogles told sheriff's deputies he was living in the basement of a Crest Drive, Summerville, home belong to someone else. He said Sunday, his basement living area, and the upstairs living area, where the owner resides, were both burglarized and ransacked. The home owner reportedly was out of town.
While going through the residence in the course of doing their burglary report, officers reportedly found in plain view several suspected drug-related items in Ogle's living area, according to the report.
The report indicates officers found: an instrument "commonly used to grind marijuana for smoking as well as suspected marijuana inside it; and a glass pipe that looks like the type commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. The glass pipe appeared to contain a white substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
According to the report, the suspected drug-related objects were found on a computer desk and dresser top in plain view. Ogles in fact led officers to the dresser saying that his jewelry had been stolen from the dresser. The computer desk was in the same area.
Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force Officers were notified and the white power reportedly field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Ogles was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
As for the burglary, it is still under investigation. Ogles gave an approximate value of a television and jewelry reportedly taken at $450.
