A Mitchell Drive, Summerville man was charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act on Friday, February 1.

 

According to the Sheriff's Department report, 45-year-old Ronald Chris Butts was arrested after he got into a heated verbal dispute with two women that eventually became physical. The dispute reportedly began over a child. Butts reportedly hit one of the women after she stepped between him and another woman and tried to hold him back. He allegedly pushed her out of the way and reportedly struck one of the women in the chest area.

 

According to the report, the deputy did see red marks on the woman's right and mid-left torso area below the neckline. Butts was taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
