A Summerville man was arrested after he reportedly assaulted a woman at her residence and left. Kerry Evans, of a Highway 27, Summerville, address is charged with simple battery under the family violence act.

 

According to the report by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department Evans was at the woman's home watching a movie with her and her child. According to the report, the woman said after a confrontation, Evans told her that if she said one more thing, he would "hit her in the mouth."  She said she began to speak and he hit her on the mouth and on the side of the head several times with his fist. She said he then picked up a candle and hit her with it, and then threw a box fan at her. She said another woman got between the two and Evans left.

 

According to the report, the woman had a busted lip and a small cut on her arm. Officers reportedly found Evans walking down the street and brought him back to the home where the incident occurred. He reportedly had a small cut on his left knuckle and blood splatter on his nose.  Redmond EMS was called to evaluate the woman's head injuries and Evans was transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
