Hays State Prison Warden Clay Tatum is being replaced.

The moves comes after four inmate deaths since the end of December.

Governor Nathan Deal has appointed Georgia DOC Field Operations Manager Rick Jacobs as acting warden of the prison.  Jacobs, who lives in Floyd County, has served as warden of Hays Prison before. 

The announcement comes a day after a Hays inmate was killed by another Hays inmate right after getting off a bus transferring the men to the Diagnostic and Classifications Prison in Jackson.
