A Chattooga County woman has possibly become a victim of an internet scam when the tried to purchase a car recently.
According to the report filed on Tuesday , the Plum Street woman said she sent a $1700 money order to a supposed Google representative to purchase a 2005 Nissan Maxima off Crigslist, listed by another party. .
The woman told Chattooga County deputies that the supposed Google representatives address came back to a A&O Lamp Company and the car seller's address came back to a solar company. The woman gave Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies all of her emails as well as a copy of the money order and receipts showing where the money order was sent. The $1700 reportedly was to cover shipping an insurance costs, according to the report.
