A Summerville man was injured in a tractor accident on Tuesday and two local men possibly saved his life.
According to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department report, units were dispatched just before 1 p.m. Tuesday when they received a call that an elderly man was pinned underneath a tractor at a Dry Creek Road address. When they arrived, 77-year-old James H. Duke was beign treated by first responders and Redmond EMS. Duke's neighbor Gary Ward, and another man, Billy Smith were next door working when they heard Duke's cries for help. The two were able to lift the tractor off Duke with a front end loader Duke was taken to a nearby hospital by Redmond EMS. There is no word on his condition.
