Suggs Supermarket, in Trion, has taken over the jail meal contract since the closure of Pop's Buffett in Summerville.

Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters was notified on February 27, that Pop's would no longer be providing the meals.

Suggs will provide the meals for at least two weeks until the details are worked out on transferring the contract or putting it up for bid. It is expected that the contract will have to be rebid.

Pop's was paid $144,819,79 to provide two meals per day to jail inmates last year.
