It’s a first for the Shorter Hawks Men’s’ Basketball Team—a national title.
The game went into overtime, but the Hawks pulled through to win the NCCAA Division I National Championship against Oklahoma Christian.
Shorter was down 31-24 in the first half, but took their first lead of the game after two free throws thrown by the newly named Tournament’s Most Valuable Player and NCCAA All-American Anthony Banks, who went on to score some 24 points.
However it was Walter Hill, who has been named to the NCCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team, who scored a three-pointer just as time expired in regulation that propelled the Hawks into overtime, where they snagged their 90-87 victory.
This is the first National Championship the men Hawks have won, and it comes just a season after they came so close to the same title.
