If you're going to drive around with drugs, don't have it in your hand and fall asleep in your car in the parking lot of a local convenience store.

 

Last week Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies were sent to the Pure Stop gas station on Highway 114, in Lyerly around 8:30 a.m.  Apparently there were two men inside a white Chevrolet Blazer asleep. While en route officers were told the vehicle had moved to BJ's Gas Station, down the road.

 

When officers located the vehicle they found two men inside, 29-year-old Billy Dewayne Tapp and 22-year-old Jonathan Dexter Lake England, both of Summerville. Both men reportedly were asleep. Tapp was in the driver's seat with an alleged open container of alcohol between his legs. England reportedly had a clear plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine in his hand.

 

Deputies reportedly knocked on the window twice for  waking up Tapp. Upon searching Tapp, officers found an open knife in his back pocket.  

 

Tapp  reportedly told officers he drove the vehicle from Summerville that morning and bought a beer and started drinking it. He was arrested and then officers woke up Lake, who asked officers where he was. When he was arrested officers he said the powdery substance, which reportedly tested positive for meth, was not theirs. 

 

Various coins and jewelry also reportedly were found in the vehicle.  

 

Lake and England were taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
