A Lyerly man was charged with simple battery after an altercation with another man on Saturday.

 

According to the Sheriff's Department report,  officers were sent to a Mountain View Road, Trion, address just before midnight. Lucky Beeler told them that Darrell McGuire, of a Lyerly Hwy, Lyerly, address was dropped off at the residence but was told he would have to leave by midnight. Both men reportedly were drinking and just before midnight the two began two fight.

 

McGuire is accused of striking  39-year-old Beeler in the head and being told to leave. Once outside the residence, McGuire is alleged to have struck Beeler and Beeler shoved McGuire. As 49-year-old McGuire reportedly fell he grabbed Beeler's shirt and pulled it over his head. Then McGuire reportedly charged Beeler and Beeler said he kicked McGuire in the stomach to keep him away. The two reportedly continued righting a falling over a chair in the front yard when McGuire is alleged to  have charged Beeler again and Beeler said he picked up a stick to make McGuire leave. 

 

According to the report, Beeler reportedly had indications of a physical altercation on his face and foot when officers arrived. By the time officers arrived, McGuire was gone.  

 

Just after 1 a.m. that next morning, deputies were dispatched to the home again concerning the return of McGuire. McGuire was arrested, charged with simple battery, and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.
