According to Cherokee County, Alabama Sheriff Jeff Shaver the body of a white male was discovered early Tuesday morning by a neighbor – at a residence on County Road 103. 

The victim has been identified as 52 year old Vincent Edward Hughes of Trion, Georgia, and the death is being investigated as a homicide.

No further information has been released at this time.

Other agencies currently assisting in that investigation include: the District Attorney’s Office, the Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and Calhoun/ Cleburne County Major Crimes Task Force.

 UPDATE – Cherokee County Alabama officials say that they have a suspect in the apparent slaying of a Trion man whose body was found Tuesday. Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver is not naming any suspects at this time. The body of Vincent E. Hughes was found yesterday and the investigation began in what appears to have been a homicide.
