Reluctance from the Georgia Department of Corrections to release information on Hayes State Prison reportedly has resulted in a lawsuit from a human rights organization.

The Southern Center for Human Rights alleges violations of the Open Records Act. The agency says they requested records which the D.O.C requested payment of 250-thousand dollars. The advocacy group alleges fees sought by the Georgia D.O.C. ranged up to 80-thousand dollars per individual request.

Three prisoners were killed inside the Pennville prison in a six-week time span at the end of last year and early this year. The Southern Center For Human Rights reports they made the information requests in February and March of this year.
