State Representative Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee) will be the guest on a Newsmakers Interview coming up on Friday morning on AM 1180.  Representative Lumsden will be reviewing the 2013 Georgia General Assembly legislative session.

Rep. Lumsden said that this years budget will restore money for the Georgia Pre-K program.  Due to the tight budget restraints of years past, the Pre-K program had been cut to 170 days.  The new budget will allow full funding of the Georgia Pre-K Program, allowing for the full 180 days.  Also, students that attend technical colleges will see the HOPE Grant threshold lowered from a 3.0 to a 2.0 grade point average, which will allow more students to get training in Georgia.

Lumsden said that by far the most response from any bill he had this year was from the gun bill.  That bill failed to pass the House after the Senate sent over some last minute changes regarding training for those who wish to carry guns on Georgia's college campuses.
