Just three weeks away from the start of their 2013 football season and one week before their first preseason scrimmage against the Chattooga Indians, the Trion Bulldogs learned that one of their opponents will not be playing football this year and another game has been cancelled.

Southwest Atlanta Christian announced on Monday that they will not field a football team this season.  In an interview with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, SWAC head coach Adrian Chism said, "I'm still waiting on of the official letter to explain the reason why.  I got a call this weekend stating the board had voted to suspend the season."  In 2012, SWAC went 0-10 on the season with only 13 players on the roster and had to forfeit their first few games of the season due to delays in receiving equipment for the players to wear.  Coach Chism stated that he anticipated having 16 or 17 players this year and didn't understand why they were cancelling their season. Chism said, "I'm hurt and saddened along with kind of confused."  SWAC is most widely known for it's most famous alumnus, NBA star Dwight Howard.  The Trion Bulldogs were scheduled to play at SWAC on October 18th but instead that game has been replaced with an extra open date.

Trion Head Football Coach Justin Brown also told AM 1180 on Thursday night that the Bulldog's game with Glascock County scheduled for October 4th has been cancelled.  That game will be replaced with a road game at Walker on September 13th which was originally scheduled as an open date.  Due to the schedule changes, Trion will now have two open dates during the season whereas most teams in northwest Georgia will only have one.

Trion's revised schedule for 2013 is as follows:

8/16 – Chattooga (scrimmage)

8/30 – Armuchee

9/6 – Lafayette

9/13 – at Walker

9/20 – Mt Paran

10/18 – Open
