Both the Trion Bulldogs and the Chattooga Indians took to the field on the first week of high school football season, looking for wins to start the year. Trion was pitted against local rival, the Armurchee Indians, while Chatooga had to travel to East Hall to take on the Vikings.
Trion jumped out to an early 18-6 halftime lead in what looked to be a pretty closely contested game. However, after emerging from the locker room after halftime, Trion poured on the points, taking the game by a final score of 43-6. Trion scored of several Armuchee turnovers, taking advantage of the Indians' mistakes. The only chink in the Bulldog armor seemed to be their inability to convert PATs.
Chattooga was put into a hole early, going down 14-0 to the Vikings. At halftime, the Indians trailed East Hall 20-6. Chattooga would drive down the field to open the third quarter to cut the East Hall lead to 20-12, but they would be stymied there after. East Hall would score 28 unanswered points to make the final score 48-6 in the favor of the East Hall Vikings.
Both teams will be in action again next week. Trion will place host to another old rival in the form of the Lafayette Ramblers and Chattooga will host Heard County. Both teams will be at home, so go out and support the players, coaches, cheerleaders, band members, and everyone else involved with our local teams.
