The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the stabbing of a Chattooga County man that was reported on Tuesday of this week.
An officer at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome contacted the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department and said that Billy Lamar Gilreath came to the emergency room with a stab wound and reported that he had been stabbed in Chattooga County.
Gilreath would not say anything to the officer at Redmond about the incident but a friend who brought him to the hospital told police that Gilreath had showed up at his house around 3 AM and told the friend that he had been at a party on the 1800 block of Mahan Road in Summerville. Gilreath had reportedly told the friend that he was sitting, listening to some music when someone came in and stabbed him in the thigh.
Gilreath suffered a wound to the thigh about two inches wide according to the sheriff’s report. The incident remains under investigation.
