People often receive “checks” in the mail from unknown sources and most of the time those “check” wind up being fake and part of a scam. A Trion woman reported what appears to have been one of the fraudulent checks to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday of this week.
The Longhollow Road woman said that she got the check on October 19th from a “Jack Miller” in Pennsylvania. The check was for $10,000 and was from “Liverpool Community Bank.” The woman said that she had not received any phone calls or applied for any offers.
The case is being investigated.
