A Menlo man reported to the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department this week that someone had been tampering with his mail.  The man reported receiving a birthday card from a friend that was supposed to have contained $250 in cash.  The man said that when he retrieved the card from his mail box he noticed that his birthday card had been tampered with.  This is not the first time that the man has had his mail tampered with, the United States Postal Service has an investigation ongoing into a separate incident.  Tampering with mail is a federal offense.  The incident regarding the birthday card has been reported to federal authorities.
