At Monday evening's Summerville City Council Meeting, the council adopted the 2014-2015 fiscal year budget. The new fiscal year begins on July 1st. Included within the budget are some new service charges and fees. Garbage and residential bills have very small increases of approximately .40 cents.This does not apply to seniors or disabled. In addition, there is now a utility service expediting fee available of $25.00, which, when city utility services are required, this fee can be paid to hasten the process. There was no increase to water, gas, etc. Included in the budget is the 2014-2015 Classification plan which includes pay raises of 3.25%. The net operating budget and expenditure amount totaled to be $16,103,831.05 leaving no surplus.
