A Calhoun man, Charles Courtland Gaines, 48, was arrested in Fort Oglethorpe this week after police found close to two pounds of meth during a traffic stop. He was charged with trafficking methamphetamines, possessing tools for the commission of a crime, and failing to comply with headlight requirements.
Reports said that he was pulled over after police spotted him driving with a bad headlight. The officer said that during the stop he noticed two syringes in Gaines` pocket. After given consent to search the car the officer discovered two small clear plastic bags that contained a clear crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.
A green box was also found under the driver`s seat that contained a suspected crystallized substance. A glass pipe was also found in the passenger-side seat pouch, which had a white residue on it.
In total close to 60 grams of methamphetamine was located in the vehicle.
