The weather continues to be a top concern in Northwest Georgia and Chattooga County today. A wind chill advisory is in effect until 2 PM this afternoon. We woke up on Thursday morning to temperatures ranging from the single digits to the low teens. Combined with winds out of the northwest, this is giving us wind chills from five above to five below zero.
If you have to be outside today, be sure to cover all exposed skin. Wear a hat and gloves and make sure that you limit as much outdoor activity as possible.
We are now watching another weather system that will bring moisture into Northwest Georgia. The National Weather Service upgraded us from a Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Weather Watch for Friday going into Saturday.
On Friday we will see the precipitation start as snow and then change over to some freezing rain before ending up as just rain on Saturday afternoon. Forecasters are being cautious about predicting how much snow and ice we will receive from this system.
Keep an eye on the weather for the next thirty-six hours as we watch this system move in.
