The Chattooga County Democratic Party held its regular monthly meeting last Saturday at Bonnie's Restaurant in Menlo.  Party Chair Jimmy Holbrook reviewed proposed changes to the local Democratic party's bylaws dealing with membership.  The meeting served as a first reading of the proposed changes to the bylaws which were last amended in 2013.

Also the party members discussed upcoming projects and committee assignments.  According to local Democratic Party officials, they have seen new members join at each meeting that has been held from January to the most recent meeting last Saturday.  Holbrook said that while a lot of attention has been focused on a prominent Democrat switching parties, the local party continues to grow and attract new members.  "It is very encouraging to see the growth of our local Democratic Party here in Chattooga County.  As we have seen new members join this year, they have come from all across the county and represent a diverse group of people.  We have had several public school teachers join the local party this year as well as business owners and look forward to the input that they will have as our party continues our commitment to  public education, our local businesses and working people. We have had new members join that are in their early twenties and our newest member was in her eighties."  

The Chattooga County Democratic Party will hold it's next meeting coming up next month on June 4th at Bonnie's Restaurant in Menlo.  Adam Griffin, the chair of the Whitfield County Democratic Party, will be the guest speaker.  Democratic Party members say that they welcome all who are interested in an ethical, honest government at all levels that strives to represent our working people, business and industry in Chattooga County.
