Northwest Georgia Regional Fair had to postpone the fireworks planned for the Fourth of July at the fairgrounds in Calhoun. According to event organizers Ken Payne and Bud Owens, this was an agonizing decision after so much preparation and work, but unfortunately was without choice.
The community volunteers have worked out a reschedule date with the fireworks production company for Patriot Day on September 11 and will include a special ceremony of remembrance and a patriotic concert. Admission will be free and more details will be announced soon.
Owens said that the best part of the Star Spangled Celebration is that it provides an evening of family, music, festivities and fireworks thanks to the longtime premier sponsor Mohawk, Gordon Hospital, Gordon County and other sponsors.
